Calling all MCU fans: Best of the MCU/Coming soon

Calling+all+MCU+fans%3A+Best+of+the+MCU%2FComing+soon

I know that (hopefully) most of you are fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of you may be reading, and thinking – “Wow, she is so lame, that is not cool anymore,” and others – “Yes of course, I’m a fan! It’s awesome! We should be best friends!!!” If you’re not so keen, let me convince you that it is in fact worth watching.

So, yes, if you’re wondering, I’m a massive fan of the MCU. From the characters to the adventures, and the humour, these movies have shaped the way I see other movies, and even books. Recently I’ve noticed that the newest additions of the MCU, are including wider societal problems from both past and present, and giving their view on them, which I think is a good way of letting their massive fan base, reap the positive messages that are shown throughout the shows. Considering other movies that are just about posing in slim-cut superhero suits, (no offense). In addition to this there are many positive role models in these stories, which I think is great for everyone. Because who’s Dad doesn’t want to be like Captain America? – Mine does. So, in general MCU is awesome! right?

Let’s start with The Best of the MCU

(This is based upon my opinion along with critics and reviewers)

1.Black Panther

96% Rotten Tomatoes

“The best Marvel movie yet.” Olly Richard (NME)

“Masterful superhero drama unlike any other, featuring outstanding acting, breath-taking art direction, fascinating royal intrigue, memorable action sequences, and surprising depth.” Sandie Angulo Chen (Common Sense Media)

Black Panther is an inspiring movie that features an amazing society of its own. I have to admit I have watched this movie about 20 times, and everyone I know has enjoyed it. The fight scenes are well done and super cool to watch, along with action-packed car chases unlike any other. The City of Wakanda is beautiful with its traditional ways mixed with futuristic technology. Also, I love the girl power in this.

R.I.P Chadwick Boseman.

2. Thor: Ragnarök (2017)

93% Rotten Tomatoes

“This is vintage Waititi, and the boldest, most outrageously fun film Marvel has yet produced.” James Dyer (Empire)

“Marvel’s comedic approach to Thor delivers on all accounts.” Paul McGuire Grimes (KSTP-TV)

Thor: Ragnarök is by far the best Thor movie. My favourite movie genre is action-comedy, and this movie definitely made be proud. Taika Waititi does a stunning job with this movie, and greatly adds in his own silly sense of humour. Chris Hemsworth does a magnificently hilarious task in making Thor better than he’s ever been. I could watch this movie over and over again, as it is both visually stunning, and belly-laughing material. Also, it’s nice to see Loki on the good side for once.

3. Avengers: Endgame (2019)

94% Rotten Tomatoes

“The Russo brother’s poignant, powerful finale more than lives up to the hype: It’s a thrilling conclusion and a deeply emotional exploration of loss and love, duty and honour, friendship and family.” Sandie Angulo Chen (Common Sense Media)

“This finale reminds us of movies gone by, celebrating the heroes we’ve come to know and giving them, I think, a fitting coda.” Plugged in staff (Plugged In)

For fans, Avengers Endgame brings us to tears as we see our superheroes battle to their end. For non-fans, Avengers Endgame is an epic that is both inspiring, and epically grand. We see the last of the friendships we love, and the beginning of the next step for the rest of the crew.

4. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

92% Rotten Tomatoes

“It’s so rare to see a film so perfectly crafted and cast. Forget “MCU films” or “Comic book films”, Guardians of the Galaxy is just a great film.” David Hogan (Hoganreviews.co.uk)

“Science fiction collides with comics to create something colourful that makes everyone come out of the cinema saying: ‘I am Groot’.” Yasser Medina (Cinemaficionados)

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of those films that you never forget. It’s like Star Trek, but with criminals, and humour. The fight scenes are hilarious, and dramatic at the same time. It couldn’t have been cast any better, as Chris Pratt is the star of this show, and is one of the most tear-jerking-laughable actors ever. The one liners make this film stand out, along with a mouthy racoon, and a wordless tree.

5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

90% Rotten Tomatoes

“Rare superhero film that excels in presenting both spectacle and substance.” Richard Probes (TheindependantCritic)

“One of the smarter and more entertaining Marvel movies of the era.” Russel Baillie (The New Zealand Herald)

Out of all Captain America movies this one has the highest rating. Also, in my opinion it’s the best Cap movie. Instead of the classic, “there’s a bad guy, lets destroy him,” this movie provides more. Its one of the smarter themed movies of the Marvel Universe. Less humour-filled and more thriller like. Also, it doesn’t have a one-sided villain, as The Winter Soldier, has literally two mental sides, and we can feel emotional when Cap and S.H.E.I.L.D are fighting him.

I also suggest watching:

Agent Carter (TV Series) (2015- 2016) – The two seasons Agent Carter can be watched on Disney Plus. It features Pegger Carter an agent serving an American government organization known as the SSR. She was originally seen in Captain America: The First Avenger as Steve Roger’s co-worker, and friend. The series is set after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. It features really authentic sets, for the 1940s.

Loki (TV Series) (2021) – Loki can also be watched on Disney Plus. The show takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, with an alternate version of Loki. For fans and those who secretly love the villainous Loki I totally recommend watching this show. The first episode starts off a little slow, but in my opinion, you just need to give it a while.
