Albert Einstein is one of the most well-known and appreciated scientists of all time. He is known for changing our perspectives on space, time, and energy. His ideas had influenced Philosophy and technology, such as the GPS or lasers.
Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany. As a child, he was quiet and struggled with the repetitive teaching styles at school. Even though he was slow to speak and was considered a below-average student, he showed an interest in Science and mathematics. Einstein was given a simple compass as a gift, which developed his curiosity about invisible forces.
Einstein attended the Swiss Polytechnic in Zurich, where he studied Physics and mathematics. After graduation, he was unable to find a teaching job, so he decided to work at the Swiss Patent Office in Bern. During his time in Burn, he used his spare hours to study scientific problems. In 1905, which was often called his miracle year, he published four papers on topics such as light, atoms, and motion, which all changed people’s perspectives on physics.
Einstein’s most famous contribution is his theory of relativity, which was a new way to understand space and time. The equation E = mc^2 showed energy and mass, and a foundation for Nuclear energy. He ended up winning a Nobel prize in physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect, which showed light can act as a wave and a particle, which is important to our electronics today and quantum theory. Past these, Einstein made substantial contributions to statistical Mechanics, Cosmology and study of Gravity.
In 1930’s the Nazi regime rose in Germany, Einstein moved to the United States and joined the institute for advanced study in Princeton New jersey. During WW2 he demanded the US to start researching the Atomic energy though he later much regretted how his ideas contributed to the making of the atomic bombs. In his final years he became a pacifist and an advocate for civil rights, furthermore continuing to search for a unified theory of Physics till his death, which was in 1955.
