SCREAM IT. YELL IT. SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.

The spoken word is one of the most important parts of our society. A moving, powerful force each and every one of us has some control over.

Oftentimes, however, many don’t recognise that voice, especially when it comes to youth. Some use their voice to spread hate and negativity, others use it to talk about things that matter.

It’s bad enough that a lot of people with big ideas get shut down but to add to that, youth all over the world aren’t even taken seriously. We are often viewed as small children who have no idea how the ‘real world’ works. When in fact, we often have some of the most revolutionary ideas as teenagers, even if they are just that: ideas. With a little help, we can bring our ideas to life.

All we need is to build connections, relationships, support systems that create a space for ideas and the backup that everyone needs every once in a while. It’s difficult to get anywhere or do anything without these connections (and I’m not just talking about those on LinkedIn). They encourage and empower us and when we have friends and peers behind us, our voice influences and impacts them and vice versa.

So, why is it that only people like Greta Thunberg get attention? We all have ideas and I’ll admit: Greta Thunberg’s are brilliant. But when it comes down to it, her voice can’t, no matter how hard it tries, represent the rest of us. So what’s holding us back? Often, it is fear, embarrassment or lack of drive and determination. For whatever reason those doubts exist, they are undoubtedly there and to get heard, we need to overcome the brick walls that they create within us.

I believe that each and every one of us can be the next Einstein or David Attenborough: but only if they believe that too. Yes, this article was short but often, that’s what you have to do to keep people interested. I hope I held your attention long enough for you to believe.

HOW WILL YOU USE YOUR VOICE?
