CGA IG English Class Produce Music Album

Music+Headphones

One of Mr Gough’s very talented IG English classes came together in term two to produce music. Apparently there is no specific genre, and every individual in the class gets to write something for the songs. ‘Weird Eyes’ is what they have named their group, and I interviewed the producer, Nik Godfrey-Billy to find out more.

It may seem random how an English class would decide to produce music, however the theme of music came up when Nik’s band posters in the background of their zoom video were mentioned. The class then decided to collectively create music. ‘Weird Eyes’ album started out as a song, but overtime has been extended into a not-quite-finished album. The album does not yet have a name, however, it already has 11 songs to date, including a prologue, interlude, and epilogue. The epilogue is named ‘Angel Trumpet’ and is based on a hallucinogenic fever dream.

The main writer is Felicity Luder, with Romy Elise Guichard mastering, and of course Nik on producing. Every Wednesday afternoon since last term these three take over their English class and check up on everyone and allow time for a brainstorming session to come up with song names, lyrics and much more.

The best part in my opinion is that everyone gets to write for the group, meaning everyone’s unique music taste and individuality can be expressed. I can’t wait to hear what they come up with, and I’m sure it will be amazing!
