It’s that time of year again…

There’s no use denying it; Exam Season is coming up and it’s right around the corner. On behalf of everyone, I’d like to wish all of the IGCSE and A-Level students good luck on the upcoming externals!

On this topic however, it is vital to ensure that you have a clear head, and maintain good health. Exams are hard for everybody, so it’s up to you to make sure that you are taking care of yourselves during this time.

Here are some great tips that I find very useful – caffeine is not always the only thing that will help you through these months, I promise.

  • Create a Schedule. Juggling multiple subjects can easily become overwhelming- especially for more difficult subjects. Creating a schedule can help you pace yourself, and not leave everything to the last minute.
  • Use healthy study techniques! Whatever technique you use to study, make sure you do it healthily. Approaching a whole stack of work with an optimistic mindset will definitely help you get through more, rather than if you jumped in thinking “Ugh!”
  • Working in dead silence is never a good idea. Throw on some background tunes while you work!
  • Take a break! Get yourself away from that computer, step away from the desk, bed, or wherever you are seated and walk a bit! Enjoy the scenery from the nearest window. Trust me, it’ll make you feel better.
  • This is a big one: Get a good night’s sleep! Though it may seem counterintuitive, taking a break and getting sleep will definitely boost your mood. Take my word for this: Sleep directly translates to sanity. I don’t know about you, but sanity is a bit of an important thing.
  • Don’t isolate yourself! Humans are social beings, so talking to a friend is a good way to relieve stress; especially if you need to get things off your chest!
  • To keep you going for longer, let yourself have something to look forward to after this arduous journey – even if it’s something as small as a slice of cake, or a well deserved Netflix break. Of course, refraining from hoarding junk food will also help you in the long run.

Another big tip is for you to Focus On Yourself! Don’t worry about what others are doing, and rather focus your efforts on strengthening your own knowledge and skills, and keeping yourself happy. That is much more important than what Felicia next door is doing at the moment.

That’s it from me! I hope everybody has a great exam season this year, and best of luck to all of you! You got this!
